On a Monday evening, all the kids around Oakland gathered to play their favorite sport —soccer. Children from all age groups, boys and girls brought competition and passion to the field. As coaches, we led the practice with a dynamic warm-up and a series of stretches before we began the more difficult activities. Each player had their own unique strengths that they showed while playing mini-games that translated to a actual soccer match. We felt that these kids enjoyed playing the sport so much that the other factors like the lack of soccer balls and the quality of the field wasn’t a problem for them. The kids were grateful for what they already had and it was amazing to get involved with the group.
